Some interesting facts about river otters. An average adult male weighs about 25 lbs,  the female's average is 18 lbs. Its body length ranges from 26 to 42”. Large male North American river otters can exceed a weight of 33 lbs. In the wild, they normally live about 8 to 9 years but they can reach 25 years of age in captivity. River otters are highly mobile and have the capacity of traveling up to 26 miles in one day. I depicted one swimming which is an uncommon pose.
