Bowline Knot
I'm a sailor and love tying knots. I like to carve the various knots as they are laid out right before you tighten them. The bowline is an ancient and simple knot used to form a fixed "eye" at the end of a rope. It has the virtues of being both easy to tie and untie; most notably, it is easy to untie after being subjected to a load. It is used for a wide variety of uses because it will not slip, loosen or jam.The bowline is sometimes referred to as King of the knots because of its importance. The bowline is often considered one of the most essential knots.
